Offas Dyke Trek

OFFAS DYKE TREK Help trace the old Offas Dyke (between England and Wales) a pathway in places, mounts of soil in others like a sloping wall. In 1967 members of the Club was in a group of about 100 other boys retracing the historic Offas Dyke from Ruabon in North Wales (near Wrexham) to Knighton, mid Wales.

The following year the trek continued from Knighton to Chepstow in South Wales. Some of the trek led us through peoples gardens as a local builder had built on some areas of the dyke.

A few years later the Offas Dyke trek is an officially British walk again, it was because walkers like our members who helped to put it back on the map

The weightlifters group is still very active and has members that covers all ages.

Morris Dancers:
There are still two groups of Morris Dancers using Oasis

Bowlers:
We now have a new group of Bowlers who use Oasis 2 mornings a week, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Maintenance Work:  2016

Due to the age of the building we are constantly having to find funds for repairs and need your help, over the years many young people have enjoyed this youth centre and not realised how we have survived. we are a charity and depend on donations to help keep us up and running, it would be a shame if we had to close. we like to keep our hiring costs down so that it is affordable for the people of Ellesmere Port. Different aged groups use the facilities so we all benefit from one of the oldest clubs still running in Ellesmere port. Please help us to keep it running for your children and grandchildren.

Over the last couple of years we have needed to have a lot of maintenance work carried out on the building. We have had to have new drainpipes, new window frames. The heating system has been renewed, but, there is still an issue of it not working correctly, this is an issue that is being addressed by both Chair and Vice Chair.
The fencing at the rear of the building has been replaced after obtaining joint funding from Dane Housing and local Councillors
We have had all the electrics checked and replaced where necessary. We are very grateful to our local councillors who have given donations from their community fund.

Funding:
Funding is becoming an issue for the junior club and both Ruth Spicer and Junior Club leaders are addressing this at this time.
